Dear CAN-CC,
I am looking for a reasonable inventory management system for my LN2 / cryovial
storage systems. If your institution uses one, could you please reply back
with
what it is and ideally how it meets your institutional needs.
Thanks in advance for input.
We used freezer works for our tissue bank. Not great but it worked. Then got
much better system integrated with clinical study management, but it cost $1m

We are in the process of implementing LabVantage in our tissue bank and have
already implemented in our Genomics services area. Very expensive ($2M) but
very robust. Not sure I would call it "reasonable" π

We have LabVantage.
Freezerworks is much more reasonable and they have added features for better
sample inventory-management

Thanks everyone. This helps a lot.
Freezer Works will likely run us 20K for the "server version" and 8 named seats
once they release the next version of the software shortly. Then, if we want,
4K yearly for the "care plan" which comes with upgrades as they are released.
I have about 40K vials ... and MS Excel is untenable ... so although the price
point is more than I wanted to spend ... I may need to bite the bullet unless I
can get more than 2 more groups to join me because the next level is 45K.
I'll definitely compare the feature and "feel" of Freezer Works and Freezer Pro
since the Biorepos Staff prefer it.

Are these all basic science/deidentified clinical science samples? Our
Prion Surveillance Center Tissue/Brain bank implemented Lab Matrix with
tube/specimen labeling and scanners a few years ago and are happy, but it
needed to ensure hard walls between data/identifier elements based on the
user requesting the sample, as well as the facility teams working with
them. If you don't need to manage/track coupled PHI and keep it safe it's
probably more than you need. --Matt
