ABRF Core Administration Virtual Town Hall - August 27 - share your questions/topics
Posted at

We look forward to our upcoming Admin Town Hall Thursday, August 27th, at 1pm Eastern time. Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwscOutqTMtGNA10jUro-CO2G-lN6UcewOj As with all town halls, the agenda is flexible, but this month we are planning to focus on a topic that affects ABRF members beyond administration. We would like to ask how the core administrator’s role has changed in the COVID era, as well as how it should change. For example: - Has the administrator been able to act as a different kind of advocate for the cores? - Can the administrator provide cover or act as a shield for cores from scientists or others who may be dissatisfied, for example, as a result of COVID related bottlenecks? - This is a time of anxiety for many core leaders and their staff. Do cores have support from administrators in dealing with conflict or other staff issues that may be new or especially exacerbated by these more stressful times? - How can administrators create a more effective and consistent dialog with cores to support their work? - If you are experiencing gaps in resources, what would help fill those gaps? These are just a few of the questions posed for our discussion next Thursday. Please feel free to send questions and suggestions to <email obscured> ahead of time, as well as offer tools, resources, literature, and opinions to share with your colleagues. We welcome core staff and leaders as well as administrators for this important topic! Andy Chitty OHSU
