Hi Nicole,

I go so far as to tell people that there is no definition of a "core". Rather,
there are a variety of structures to provide services.

We do make the distinction between recharge and non-recharge. Recharge is a
formal structure that allows  the core to charge other investigators. We also
have many departmental cores that are shared but cannot do recharge.

Is there a recognized agreement "the official term' on what to call Core
Facilities?

I've seen:

  *   Core Facility
  *   Research Core Facilities
  *   Shared Facilities
  *   Research Shared Core Facilities
  *   Cores

The lingo is expanding the more I read, and I just wanted to collect some
thoughts on this.
