Hi All, Thank you for the great replies and discussion. I definitely will be reaching out! Based on some of the conversations, I did want to point out that over the past 2 years we have been slowly moving the cores with the most diverse user bases to either Centers or Institutes. Part of my reasoning in doing so was 1) to relieve departments of the financial burden (since these entities receive base budgets from our Office of Research) and 2) to have a better handle on strategic growth of the resources as we were having issues with faculty acquiring equipment to put into the cores without consulting with anyone (Nothing like hearing "Surprise! We just bought a new X-Ray Diffractometer for you, it'll be here Monday" to freak out a core director).
