Subject: [core administrators network forum] Pilot/Seed/Feasibility project
programs
Colleagues –
Have you developed/implemented a pilot/seed funding program for core facility
users at your institution? If so, would you be willing to share your thoughts
with me regarding your program? We are launching such a program at UCD and
some external validation regarding the “good, the bad and the ugly” of such
programs would be helpful to me.
My goals are to roll-out a program that provides flexibility for use in
different cores and a low administrative burden but still provides sufficient
(rigorous) accountability so the ROI of such a program can be quantified and
articulated to stakeholders and shows an increase in new use of the cores.
Counter to that are the faculty goals of being able to develop their own
application criteria and measure their own success. The best program is one
that balances both approaches. ☺
I look forward to hearing from those of you who have these programs in place.
All the best for a productive and stress-free 2018.
Julie
