Hi Beverly, My guess is it's just back to school blues, or no one has needed help with malfunctioning lab equipment for a while. Last time I checked, there were around 1700 subscribers to the ABRF Discussion Forum, and this number has remained ~consistent over the past 7ish years since ABRF changed the forum provider and infrastructure. However, posts to the list have never been as high as back in the early days of genetic and proteomic technology development. I've noticed for some time now that there are other places people are communicating with each other such as Twitter because of its more conversational nature and ability to easily add images and links and other twitterisms. Also, there are other forums which are specific to a given topic such as the MaxQuant and Perseus Google Groups for those two software packages, and SPCTools Google Group for the TPP and there are others. This type of specialization competes with the more general nature of ABRF Discussion forum for subscribers and new postings to the list.

The only curation rule is that new subscribers are "moderated" and cannot post until it is determined they are legitimate. There are currently only 9 such subscribers out of 1753. Ken Schoppmann, the ABRF Executive Director is working with the developer to rectify any problems. If anyone has problems posting to the ABRF lists, please notify Ken Schoppmann: <email obscured>. Feel free to contact me as well. Best regards, Brian

Thanks, Brian. Apparently there was a some technical issues with the forum, which are being resolved. (I have seen more forum emails today, than I have all summer ๐. Since I am writing to the forum, I need to plug the Journal of Biomolecular Techniques (JBT), which is the official journal of ABRF. The current issue of JBT is now being published on the ABRF website (achieved issues are on PMC) The September issue is a collection of articles on the development of assays to detect COVID. โ there are lots of really good articles, and more will be appearing. https://www.abrf.org/journal-of-biomolecular-techniques1 If you have not heard of JBT before, itโs a true open access journal โ ABRF provides all of the funding for the journal โ in other words there are no fees to publish, no subscriptions, etc. It is completely free. I would suggest you consider sending your future manuscript for consideration to the really nice Editor-in-chief of JBT.
