When I first started in graduate school, Kym Faull pointed me to the ABRF
discussion forum as _THE_ goto resource on the Internet to query
whenever I had a question or problem... That would be 1998 or so. He
described it as a community of the smartest scientists in the field that
were all really wonderful helpful individuals.
So, Matt, I will share your sentiment!

Hi
I think my first ABRF usegroup post was 1993. Thats almost thirty years. Tried
to offer help in the nascent field of API ESI Mass Spec. Most of my best stuff
was lost when the ABRF was hacked years ago. Lost the early archive. Every once
in awhile I meet someone and they are grateful. That is really cool. Loved
helping and learning from all my scientists around the planet. Good years.
Good times. Thank you ABRF!
Your existence benefitted mankind. Thank you for being open to letting people
help each other for mostly free. So awesome.

GPMAW (http://www.gpmaw.com/) can do what Kym needs. We've used it for many
years and have found it very valuable. It does have to be purchased, but Peter

This decision makes absolutely no sense ....
- I have NEVER worked in a "Core"
- I have found this forum to be exceptionally valuable.
Some decision maker here has blinders on,
and is self-obsessed.

To everyone involved in setting up the ABRF Discussion forum and kept it going
strong ... a big nod to you Brian Hampton.
I have begun to tip my toe into the ABRF's Connected Community. With its many
additional features, I anticipate it will be integral to our network being
stronger and more resilient in the years to come. I encourage everyone to take

Dear all
I plan to do some plasma proteomics in both mouse and human.Β I think it is
difficult, but are there kits that are compatible with both systems?
I might use different kits for human and mouse samples.
If so, although I find kits that depletes 10 to 14 proteins in human plasma, I
only found a kit that depletes immunoglobulins (A, G and M) and albumin in
mouse plamsa. Does someone knows and recommends any other that depletes more
proteins in mouse plasma?
Thank you for your help!!
Theyβre not especially difficult to rebuild (if itβs just a cracked piece of
tubing or a failing pump). You can get a replacement tubing kit and/or a
vacuum pump from Agilent and just swap them out. If the chamber is damaged in
some way then you may have a bigger problem.
Rest of post
Thanks,
Steve

Yeah, but that's totally true in all circumstances - if a PI is NSF
funded and the research site is off-site (not on campus), there is
usually a lower, off-site rate. I think the reasoning is that the
research (activities) conducted off-site is not making full use of
campus resources.

My understanding is that OMB Circular A21 requires that all researchers
with NIH, NSF funding, etc must be charged the same amount. That means
that you may not charge external customers more than your internal rate +
F&A. You may also not charge internal customers different rates depending
on what department they're in, for example, unless those different rates
are subsidized by the department in question. So, external customers get
the internal rate + F&A, and that depends on your institution.
Cheers,

Hi Andor,
I think it depends on your institutions F&A. I believe a rate for external
academics that covers the internal rate + F&A is justified. Anything less and
you are being undercut.
Unfortunately though, your externals will need to pay 1.82x your internal rate
to cover this.
I am unaware that NIH has specific guidance on this.

Subject: [ABRF Discussion Forum] Guidance on F&A/surcharge/back-charge for
off-campus academic clients
Hello,
Β Β Β Does anyone have an "official" guide (or website they can point me
to) from NIH or NSF for what a core should be charging (+%) for an external,
academic client?
Β Β Β For example, at our institution, NIH and NSF grants have an F&A charge of
45% on the direct funding.
Β Β Β There seems to be a range of anywhere from 10% to 50% for external,
academic clients of cores.
TIA,

Figured this out and I think I now have a working pump. Took me way too long to
figure out how to update the BIOS. That did it though. First used the most
recent version and it gave a slightly different P-BUS error. Thankfully when I
downgraded to the next version everything came up properly.
tried zipping and it was also blocked. But if the program is still
someone's property, as Eric says, I prefer not to keep trying.

Hi Bill
Normally zipping a file with a password gets around this block. Google canβt

OK, understood. The program is so old that I assumed erroneously it is no
longer of any interest to anyone.
