Hello
We too are forced to upgrade our networked acquisition PCs to windows 10 as
windows 7 support ceases very soon. I have a QEHFx and LUMOS in the lab both
staring down the barrel and the systems are only 12 months old. According to
Thermo, the only 'safe' and 'service contract compatible' solution is to
purchase new upgraded Windows 10 PCs from them in addition to any software
updates this may demand. So the upgrade is really replacing the entire
acquisition resources on two systems that are barely 12 months old at the
customers significant cost.
I know we could try and upgrade the OS but the risk is then ours to take-thats
a risk too far on new systems for me. Thats really a shitty position to be in
12 months after spending major money. My question to Thermo is, "why were you
shipping instruments with a value of some £1.5M with an OS with only 12 months
of serviceable life in them". I await a response that satisfies me. Fingers
burnt by more than just EasySpray units it would seem.
Merry Christmas
