I have never heard anything like that. You do need to make sure the generators
are maintained - no oily compressed air and stuff like that - AND that there
are no sudden pressure changes (which can burst the membranes - I fear that is
what happened to the person you were talking to....) but other than that I
have always thought they we're quite nice (but if I am wrong I want to hear
about it now - so others please chime in).
You should check with PEAK of course (I think your rep is Kirk McKinney) and
they can help you. If you are using very high flow rates the quality will go
down though so you need to look at the table for your specific generator at the
flow rates you use.

Subject: [ABRF Discussion Forum] Orbitrap Exploris 480 on nitrogen generator or
tanks?
Hi all,
We have an Orbitrap Exploris 480 on the Peak nitrogen generator sold to us
by Thermo. However, we’re hearing from other sources that the nitrogen
generator will not produce clean nitrogen more than a few months, and we
should be using compressed nitrogen tanks instead. So I have two questions:
1. Is your Orbi on tanks or a nitrogen generator?
2. If you are using a nitrogen generator, have you experienced any
problems due to dirty nitrogen?
Thanks!
